When the economy improves and when the City has other funding sources, such fees as this should be then reviewed.

What internal cost cutting measures would you direct the City Manager to take to reduce spending?

Mandatory efficiency reviews, utilizing technology (automation ending the use of paper forms - an example of many possibilities), streamlining the city government process (such as Development Services), are some of the directions.  The most important is a review of the City Charter, so that how Tucson is governed is reviewed, keep what works, change was doesn’t, for Tucson’s stockholders, the citizens.

What plan or plans do you have to help stimulate the economy?

Working with the local educational facilities to increase and ensure proper job training and through this, creating a stronger working relationships with the business community to ensure that needs are met.  Utilize and expand business empowerment zones, because as business is run, so should the city government operate.

What are you plans to address downtown development?

Project management.  Transparency.  Improve governmental operation (i.e. Development Services) and a review of the Charter.

Do you support the City creating a new Professional Services tax?

The Mayor and Council has never received such a proposal.

Do you support the City reintroducing the renter’s tax?

No, because it would affect those who could least afford it.

Do you support the Public Safety First Initiative? If so, how will you pay for it and are tax increases part of your proposal?

I  support public safety but I don’t support unfunded mandates that would bankrupt the city.
