The last public vestige in Tucson of the wireless company Alltel has disappeared as the company is integrated into Verizon Wireless.

The former Alltel store at 4405 N. Oracle Road has now been rebranded and remodeled into a Verizon Wireless Evolution Communications store. It is the company’s newest design for a retail store including automated greeter kiosks, demonstration zones and the broadest range of wireless products and services.

Another former Altell store on East Broadway was relocated to a Verizon Evolution store at 5855 E. Broadway.

Both Evolution stores are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Billing for all former Alltel customers has also been converted to Verizon Wireless. The company says the biggest remaining project, which will be ongoing, is upgrading the former Alltel cell sites and infrastructure.
