La Cañada a go sound walls, no

Published on Friday, October 23, 2009

The Pima County Board of Supervisors Oct. 20 awarded a $13.2 million contract to widen La Cañada Drive from West Ina Road to West Calle Concordia but, despite it coming in nearly $5 million under budget, the county will not spend more money to put up additional sound barrier walls as neighbors had requested.

KE&G Construction won the bid to widen the road from two to four lanes. The project also includes a median, sidewalks and equestrian paths. Work is expected to begin around the end of the year.
