New Hires

Michelle Chasteen joined M&I Bank as an officer, personal banker at the bank’s Broadway and Houghton Branch. Chasteen was previously with Bank of America and has more than eight years of industry experience.

Dr. Michael Teodori, joined the University of Arizona department of Surgery as clinical professor of surgery and director of congenital and pediatric cardiac surgery. Teodori is a specialist in surgical treatments for highly complex heart problems in newborns and children. Teodori spent 19 years in Phoenix, first in private practice, then joining Phoenix Children’s Hospital in 2002. He is responsible the Children’s Heart Center at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where he performed 70 percent of Arizona’s pediatric heart surgeries a year.

Raul Cunes joined Sunstreet Mortgage LLC as a senior loan officer focusing on residential home loans, FHA, VA and USDA mortgages.  Cunes was previously with DR Horton and has been in the lending industry since 1994.

Jim Roberts joined Sunstreet Mortgage LLC as a senior loan officer focusing on general, construction and residential home loans. Roberts has been in the lending industry in Tucson for more than 20 years and was most recently at M&I Bank Tucson Mountain Branch.

Simply Bits added two new members to its staff by hiring Randy Malick and Aaron Einfrank. Malick was hired as a senior account executive. He was previously an account executive with Cox Media and has more than 29 years of communications and electronic media experience. Einfrank is an account executive for the firm. He previously worked in real estate sales and land development planning with Coldwell Banker and The Planning Center.

Awards, honors, and recognitions

Setsuko K. Chambers, MD
, professor and vice chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and section head of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, was elected a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. She joins a small cadre of obstetricians and gynecologists in the nation who have been similarly honored. It is one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine.

Kathleen Bender, procurement contract administrator for the City of Tucson, was elected to a third term on the board of directors for the National Purchasing Institute. Bender is also the NPI Board Director who will serve on the prestigious Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award Committee in 2009-2010. She has 12 years procurement experience at the City of Tucson and is a Certified Purchasing Manager and a Certified Professional Public Buyer.

Seven partners from Mesch, Clark & Rothschild P.C. were named among the “Best Lawyers in America.” The partners are: Lowell Rothschild, insolvency, bankruptcy, creditor’s rights and business reorganization; Douglas Clark, civil and commercial litigation; Mel Cohen, construction and surety law; Richard Davis, Insurance, municipal medical and hospital defense; Scott Gan, chairman of the firm’s appeals section; Michael McGrath, chairman of the firm’s bankruptcy section; and Brenda Moody, business reorganization, bankruptcy, creditor and debtor rights.

Appointments

Steve Bush is the new senior vice president and CFO of TMC HealthCare. Bush has worked most recently with Aurora Health Care of Milwaukee, as vice president, finance, of their Metro Region.

Promotions

Julia Strange
is now the vice president for community benefit at TMC HealthCare. This role includes responsibility for communications, marketing, government relations, and community outreach. Through a variety of roles within the organization, Strange has led advertising, community outreach, and internal and external communication efforts for more than 13 years.

Catherine Strickland is the new program manager for the Pima County Economic Development and Tourism Department. She has been with the county since 2004. Her new responsibilities include developing economic development strategic plans and new programs to assist Pima County’s leased and managed attractions so that they may increase their awareness and grow their educational and recreational services to the community.
