Promotions

Carol Larson is now the mechanical engineering department manager for GLHN Architects & Engineers Inc. Larson, who has been employed by the firm since 2000, leads projects in energy analysis, mechanical design and long-term utility development planning.

The 355th Fighter Wing Commander at Davis-Monthan, Paul T. Johnson, was promoted to the rank of brigadier general. The commander was nominated for the appointment to brigadier general in May this year with 37 other colonels across the Air Force.

Elections

The Tucson Downtown Sertoma Club elected its 2009-2010 executive board. Those elected include:  Nancy Turner, president; Richard Kennedy, secretary; Jack Furrier, secretary; Rudy Ingersoll, vice president of membership; Bill Swain, vice president of sponsorship; Denise Yardy and Ed Gallick, vice president of programs; Betsy Green and Tom Sawyer, directors and Bruce Irby, Sergeant at arms.

The Arizona Aerospace Foundation Board of Trustees named two new members of the board. Michael Rusing and Rick Barrett were each elected to three-year terms on the board. The Foundation operates the Pima Air & Space Museum, the Titan Missile Museum and the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame.

New Hires

Pat Archie is a new single-family manager for Tucson Realty & Trust Co. Management Services. Archie has more than 38 years of real estate experience. She previously served as the manager of Farnsworth Realty & Management.

Steve Oesterle joined Long Mortgage Company as the new Home Mortgage Consultant for Long Realty Company’s Houghton Southeast and Sahuarita offices. Oesterle has more than 10 years experience in the mortgage industry.

Sandy Alter joined Grubb & Ellis Company as vice president of private capital markets group. She specialize in the sale of multifamily, hotel, office and retail properties. Alter has more than 20 years experience in commercial real estate. Alter joins Grubb & Ellis from a private investment firm, where she served as an acquisitions and asset manager since 2004.

John Ehiri has been appointed as the director of the Division of Health Promotion Sciences of the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.  Prior to coming to The University of Arizona, Dr. Ehiri spent seven years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health where he was as an associate professor in the departments of maternal and child health and health behavior.  

Stacy Lanier and Michael Harper joined Exit Realty 1st Choice as agents. Lanier has been in the industry since 2004 and previously worked with her family at Lanier Enterprises & Realty. Harper recently earned his license after retiring as an aerospace engineering consultant.

George Cardieri joined Tierra Right of Way as a right of way agent. Cardieri is currently president elect of the Southern Arizona chapter of the International Right of Way Association and has previously worked in the AZ State Land Department.

Awards, honors, and recognitions

The Tucson Old Pueblo Section local chapter of the American Society for Quality had members complete the requirements for certain exams. They are: William J. Degnan, Patricia Gorman, Thomas, F. Hanley and LeAnn L. Vaughn for the Certified Quality Auditor. Elias Monreal for the Certified Quality Improvement Associate. Gerardo Rosario Gonzalez Murillo and Joseph Marotta for the Certified Six Sigma Green Belt. And H.C. Jones for the Certified Software Quality Engineer.

Christian K. Monrad, vice-president of Monrad Engineering Inc. and co-founder of the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society Cactus Rescue Crew, is the winner of this year’s Arizona Department of Water Resources / Tucson Botanical Gardens Community Xeriscape Leader Award. This award recognizes individuals and organizations for their contributions to the community. The Community Xeriscape Leader Award recognizes an individual or organization that has been a driving force in promoting xeriscape principles and/or the use of native and arid-adapted plants.
