Housing development kicks off 2009 with ribbon cutting

Six days into 2009 might not seem like the most opportune time to have a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new housing development, but this one is on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

Soaring Heights Communities is building 573 new three- and four-bedroom homes on the base it says will be 20 to 40 percent larger than most of the homes airmen have been living in. The new homes include a variety of upgrades including state-of-the-art energy efficient appliances, kitchens with islands, increased storage space, and master bedroom suites.

The project also includes renovating 159 homes on the base.

Soaring Heights anticipates having all of the new homes completed by 2010.

Coldwell Banker works to ‘Save the Dream’

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage recently announced the “Save the Dream” initiative, which is designed to provide homeowners with an array of private and government resources that can help them avoid foreclosure.

“‘Save the Dream’ is a communications campaign that is reaching out to thousands of client contacts of the 1,600 local Coldwell Banker sales associates to let homeowners know that they have options,” said Malcolm MacEwen, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Arizona. “The Mortgage Bankers Association reports that approximately 50 percent of home owners who do lose their homes to foreclosure have never once contacted their lender.”

Coldwell Banker is encouraging homeowners who want to avoid foreclosure to seek the resources of government and private-sector organizations who have programs dedicated to solving their problems.  The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has a website at www.hud.gov/foreclosure that features a “Guide to Avoiding Foreclosure,” with detailed advice on contacting an HUD housing counselor, exploring loan workout solutions with lenders, and finding state and local foreclosure resources.
